George Carlin, an early Catch A Rising Star regular, fondly remembered years later by club

PRINCETON, N.J. (June 23, 2008) - News of the passing of George Carlin hit close to home for those associated with Catch A Rising Star Comedy Clubs.

Carlin, a regular in the early days of the original Catch A Rising Star in New York City, honed his skills by making people laugh at the famous club in Manhattan.

In the ensuing years, Carlin became arguably the biggest name ever in stand-up comedy, with sold out shows in arenas across the country, HBO specials, and comedy clubs big and small.

"He was an icon," said Craig Neier, CEO of Catch A Rising Star Comedy Clubs. "He was a brilliant comedian, an innovator. Up until the end he was able to sell out concert and concert - even on college campuses. He sustained his popularity for his entire career."

"Without a doubt, George was a comedian unto himself," added Suzy Yengo, president of Catch A Rising Star. "His delivery and style was unique. We are truly going to miss George the comedian - and George the person."

Summed up Neier, "George wasn't about glitz and glamour. He was just funny, funny, funny."
